Joe attended Lipscomb University graduate school beginning in 2007 and received his Master of Science degree in Psychology (2011) and Master of Science in Professional Counseling (2012). Since, he has worked exclusively in the mental health field with significant practice in the addiction and recovery field, working primarily with Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) utilizing a Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) modality in an out-patient setting. He also routinely provides counseling and therapy for individuals, couples and families dealing with a variety of issues such as anxiety, depression, relationship conflict and addiction. He is an accomplished facilitator and has provided assistance for groups of all sizes on matters including conflict resolution, organizational development, project development and meeting content and direction.

Joe graduated from Bellevue High school in 1974, attended Freed-Hardeman University for two years and received his B.S. in Civil Engineering from Tennessee Tech in 1982.

A lifelong resident of Nashville, he has served as President/Commissioner of the Crieve Hall Girls Softball Association and President of the Lipscomb High School Band Boosters. He received recognition for Outstanding Service to the Crieve Hall Girls Softball Association, 1996 - 1998. He is a registered engineer (retired) and certified Project Management Professional (inactive). He has served as Officer, Division Manager and Program Manager for several firms providing Engineering, Planning, Design and Construction for three decades following graduation from Tech. His work history includes experience in business management, business development, and in project management, development, conceptualization, planning, design, construction and commissioning.

Joe is a Nashville native and one of seven children all living in Tennessee and Mississippi. He and his wife have two daughters.
